Blk Traditional

What your Opinion about mixing Traditional Marital arts with MMA (combat sports)?
not tp compete or anything.
Do you think a person whos a blk belt in Wado Ryu Karate and a brown belt in BJJ should train in MMA to be a better well rounded fighter???
to begin with many styles are complete systems, but not everyone practices or trainees in there style as a complete styles.
2ndly traditionalist have been cross training or mixing styles for thousands of years, this is nothing new. i have asked before the question,
name one karate style that is not a combination of multiple systems?
the answer is there is non, every karate style is a combination of many styles in most case at least 5 or more.
many of us dont believe in sports martial arts, we practice to finish a fight in less then 30 seconds. and not submit people.
i see no reason why we should take mma, since many of the moves i know and teach are illegal in mma matches, as for ground fighting, i did that as back in the 80's and it was all in karate and japanese jujustu not bjj.
the flaw most of the time comes in the way people train. if you dont train for a real altercation and just do tag or point sparring, you will obviously be destroyed in a real situation
there is no need to mix styles if you train correctly you only need one,
people have been defending themselves using only one style for thousands of years and others have been cross-train in the same time frame, both sides of the coin work. its all in how you train and not what you train.
an old colt 45 will kill a person just as quickly as the newer 9mm do. martial arts is just a tool its all on how effective you are with how to use it

PLAYLIST SERIES 1, EPISODE 8: South Africa - Blk Jks
Cosplay as a Black mage?
I'm going to cosplay at Otakon this year as a Black Mage from Final Fantasy. I have my conical hat, and am working on the traditional blue robe/coat. my question is how I should deal with my actual face, since Blk Mages usually don't have any.
Hm... looking at a picture for a black mage, I would consider draping a black cloth over my face, and putting some silver sort of glasses over my eyes, putting the glasses over the cloth.
If you do that, make sure to cut a hole out at the part of the mask where your nostrils are.
